- ABILITY Virtual Care protected our revenue and our patient's privacy
Instead of losing revenue during a time when everyone was experiencing a downturn, [with ABILITY Virtual Care] we’ve stayed busy. As long as payers continue to honor telehealth services, it will continue to be an integrated part of our practice’s service offerings.
- ABILITY Virtual Care removes barriers to care
People were stuck at home, unable to travel or meet in person. Even before the pandemic, some of my patients had trouble driving long distances and finding parking near my office. With social distancing and shelter-in-place orders, it felt like an impossible
Patients love it. I practice in Los Angeles, where driving and parking can be a massive headache. Telehealth appointments remove that barrier to care.
- ABILITY CAREWATCH enables us to do more in non-clinical departments to deliver patient-centered care.
We implemented ABILITY CAREWATCH nearly a decade ago to help increase data integrity and better manage our quality measures. Today, CAREWATCH data is used by multiple departments across the Village Care Center. For example our nutrition service and dietician teams use the weight loss function within CAREWATCH to better support the dietary needs of our patients. They can see issues with a patient’s weight or diet and proactively address them. They can set measurable goals related to dietary measures and ensure better care. The application enables us to do more in non-clinical departments to deliver patient-centered care.
- Our facility is more confident accepting patients, thanks to ABILITY EASE Medicare.
Many times, we get calls from facilities and doctor’s offices asking to take their patients. Thanks to ABILITY EASE Medicare, we can determine the patient’s Medicare and Medicare Advantage eligibility right away without waiting for the intake meeting.
- ABILITY has given me more information to deliver better care.
I consistently use ABILITY CAREWATCH for a real-time review of our current resident’s quality measures against the state and national benchmarks, and then dive deeper on each metric. With this insight, I can work the identified areas to improve quality of care for our residents.
- CAREWATCH gave me more confidence.
Last year, I was asked to give a presentation on quality measures in front of a large audience of professionals in Washington, D.C. Presenting is not something I consider my strong suit, so ABILITY CAREWATCH helped me feel more confident in delivering this presentation. I knew the application well and I trusted it, so I didn’t have any doubts about the content. It was a big support for me, personally.
- ABILITY CAREWATCH saves me more time.
I create reports for our Board of Directors. I use CAREWATCH to check the competitor survey, and to access hospital readmission rates across a multi-state area. This saves me extraordinary amount of time because I don’t have to go to multiple websites or manually track the data.
- We have more insight into how to fix the processes needed to improve the quality of care for our residents.
After implementing ABILITY CAREWATCH, we were able to get to and maintain 4- and 5-star ratings. CAREWATCH gave us confidence that our ratings would reflect our teams’ work. But more importantly, there was that “a-ha moment” for me when I realized it wasn’t the people, it was the processes that needed to be fixed. With CAREWATCH, we have more insight into how to fix the processes needed to manage our quality measures and improve the quality of care for our residents.
- We’ve invested more in tools for our clinical staff.
ABILITY CAREWATCH has clearly demonstrated the strong connection between clinical documentation and the revenue cycle. The finance department and the leadership team saw how critical it was to document correctly and efficiently. We’ve been able to invest more in resources and technology to support our clinical staff so they can document more efficiently. Less time spent documenting means they have more time for patients.
- We can actually do significantly more with our quality of care
We have so much incredible information in our hands [with ABILITY OPTIMIZE] —we just have to use it. And if we use it properly and regularly, then we can actually do significantly more with our quality of care, improve the lives of our patients, and make our company better.
- [Using ABILITY COMPLETE] has certainly helped our operation become more efficient.
We need a verification system that is fast and accurate. [Using ABILITY COMPLETE] has certainly helped our operation become more efficient. The capability of checking multiple patients at once is a huge time-saver.
- We can do more to grow across our businesses with ABILITY CAREWATCH.
ABILITY CAREWATCH is foundational to being a preferred skilled nursing care provider, and this has allowed us to do more to grow across all of our business units. CAREWATCH helps us organize the quality of care data at the Village Care Center and gives us the insight we need to focus our efforts and deliver exceptional quality, which supports being a preferred provider for referrals.
- We have so much more information available to us with ABILITY SECUREPAY.
We have so much more information available to us with ABILITY SECUREPAY than with our previous service. It’s offering our patients more flexibility, and happier patients are much more pleasant for our Billing Office to deal with.
- ABILITY has given my team more confidence.
Since we began using ABILITY EASE All-Payer, we have been able to clear up our backlog, and to begin building and improving our processes. In just a short amount of time, the atmosphere in the department has gone from discouraged with little hope of improvement to hopeful and optimistic about the future. That is the biggest gift ABILITY could have given to me as a supervisor.
- ABILITY has helped our organization get more referrals.
The care quality information we receive from ABILITY CAREWATCH has been invaluable in my role as administrator. It’s so easy to use, I can pull the data right off the charts to create the reports we use to document our care quality. In fact, that data has played a key part in helping us land new contracts with the local accountable care organization, which has improved our referral rate. I don’t know how we could run our business without it.
- ABILITY EASE Medicare has given me more time during the day
… especially with processing returned or rejected claims. Because EASE Medicare clearly tells you where the issue is, it makes correcting and resubmitting the claims quick and easy. It is a night and day difference versus going to the DDE/FISS directly to repair claims for resubmission. This frees up my time to focus on other important projects.
- We can focus more on what matters.
We use ABILITY CAREWATCH at the Village Care Center, mainly for tracking quality measures and improving the quality of care for Care Center residents. As a large facility, managing and tracking quality data across different units and different care types is challenging. With CAREWATCH, we empower each unit’s nurse manager to set goals specific to their resident populations. For example, for memory care, it might be reducing the use of psychotics, while for transitional care, it might be decreasing the number of falls.
CAREWATCH helps us identify areas of improvements based on the specific needs of each unit, versus a broad interpretation that might not really get at the critical issues in each area. When we can track and manage quality measures at a local level, based on the goals, challenges and case mix of the patient population in that unit, we can focus more on the things that will have the biggest impact on their quality of life. That makes a big difference in the care we deliver.
- We could see things that we couldn’t see before.
Suddenly everything was in color.
Prior to ABILITY CAREWATCH, all of our patient data reports were created manually. It was mind-numbing, and the number of people and individual tasks need to compile, organize and make sense of patient data was impossible. With CAREWATCH, it was like in The Wizard of Oz movie, where suddenly everything was in color. We could see things that we couldn’t see before. It changed everything about how we perceived managing quality measures and our organization. Using CAREWATCH across the Village Care Center helped us improve and then maintain strong star ratings consistently over the last 10 years.
- ABILITY has helped our organization place more focus on quality improvement.
We use ABILITY CAREWATCH for early identification of challenges, and to track and demonstrate our quality improvement process to QAPI (Quality Assurance Performance Improvement). We have also recently used the statistical process control data and graphs to demonstrate improvement. These measures have helped us be recognized nationally for our quality. In fact, we won Silver Achievement in Quality Awards in three communities and Bronze Commitment to Quality Awards in two!
- ABILITY has given me more relief from the burden of MDS reporting.
As our organization’s MDS coordinator, I have been using ABILITY CAREWATCH to scrub my MDS for about three years. The CAREWATCH MDS scrub is so helpful and keeps me on top of the beast that MDS has become. The reports are colorful and sensible and the system is easy to navigate. In fact, I use CAREWATCH so often, I was locked out of the QIES system for CASPER reports because I hadn’t used it in so long!
- ABILITY has given me more time.
Before we started using ABILITY EASE All-Payer, we were never caught up. Now we have more time to plan what we’re doing on a given day, and we are not incurring overtime expenses. I’m even able to make time for a daily workout!
- ABILITY SMARTFORCE ... produces more time for patient care.
We dramatically decreased labor costs by close to a million dollars within the first year of product usage. ABILITY SMARTFORCE at Summit Medical Group streamlines staffing, improves communication, contributes to greater efficiency and ultimately, produces more time for patient care.
- ABILITY has helped our organization invest more to improve our facilities and retain our staff.
I run two skilled nursing facilities in California, and we have used ABILITY CAREWATCH since 2013. The data analytics we get from CAREWATCH every day, every week, every month, have helped us receive substantial quality payments for the last four years because we have more insight in to the care we deliver to our residents. As a result, we have been able to improve our facilities facility and increase staff pay, which we wouldn’t have been able to do without ABILITY.
- ABILITY has given me more time to spend with residents and developing my team.
As the director of Nursing for an independent Continuing Care Retirement Community located in rural Iowa, my team and I are used to wearing multiple hats to keep everything running smoothly. We track our own data and use the data to continue to improve our quality, which used to take forever. With ABILITY CAREWATCH and ABILITY RISKWATCH, tracking trend data to improve outcomes is quick and easy.
- ABILITY has helped me have more success in my practice.
Before I started to use ABILITY CHOICE All-Payer Claims, I could primarily see clients who were willing to pay out of pocket, because handling the insurance claims seemed too complicated and overwhelming. Now, I am able to serve clients I couldn’t see before and receiving insurance payments is easy. This has made such a difference in my monthly revenue, I was able to put my entire focus on my practice!
- ABILITY CAREWATCH revolutionized how we measure performance organization-wide
ABILITY CAREWATCH revolutionized how John Knox Village uses dashboards, metrics and scorecards to measure performance organization-wide. CAREWATCH was our first foray into the modern era of analytics 10 years ago. Today, the data from CAREWATCH informs how we run the organization from the boardroom, through the CEO, and out to the entire Village. With CAREWATCH, we can do more to monitor, manage and grow our organization, while never taking our eyes off of patient care.
- ABILITY has given my department more credibility.
Our CEO has clear insight into our finances, as ABILITY EASE All-Payer provides real-time revenue information so our leadership can make better, informed decisions for our organization. We can see right away when there will be a revenue issue at a specific facility.
